Title: Futon for Babies- Safe, Organic, Washable and Comfortable!

“Compared to a baby bed, it is easier for the mother to wake-up in the evening right next to the baby for breast feeding or for patting the crying baby to sleep without the mother having to wake up from her futon.”

Unlike the Western culture, Japanese do not mind sleeping on the floor using futon, traditional floor bedding set. It is comfortable, warm, and saves space because it can be folded and put away in the closet. Therefore, it is not rare for parents of new-born babies to buy a futon set for their baby to sleep next to the parent. Compared to a baby bed, it is easier for the mother to wake-up in the evening right next to the baby for breastfeeding or for patting the crying baby to sleep without the mother having to wake up from her futon. Not only can it be used on the floor, it can also be used on a baby-bed if the parents decide to use a baby-bed after purchasing the baby futon.

Because the baby futon is used immediately after the baby is born until the baby grows out of it, parents are keen on finding a baby futon that is safe and best for the well-being of their baby. There are several types of baby futon out there; washable comforter and mattress, organic cotton covers, and gauze. Washable comforter and mattress means parents do not need to hassle over taking off the cover, washing/drying, and putting the cover back on. For busy parents, this saves time. For babies with skin problem, organic cotton is the ultimate solution since they spend most of their time sleeping. There are organic cotton washable futon too. Gauze material allows enough air into the futon for a fluffy and warm feel. It also absorbs water, supporting the baby’s comfortable sleep.

When buying baby futon, it is safe to check what the set comes with. Popular set comes with 6,8, or 10 items from the typical futon set. Also, parents should check whether “organic”, “made in Japan” and/or “washable” applies to all of the items, or just the main items. When finding the right futon for the baby, parents may find that their babies are sleeping on a better quality futon than themselves!
